Basement Theatre is a place where urgent and adventurous live performance made by independent artists is incubated and supported - proudly showcasing artist's work across two performance spaces, the Studio upstairs and the Theatre downstairs. Tickets are cheap, as are the drinks at the bar, so grab your whānau, your friends, or a date, and come witness history in the making.
Located right next to the bar and foyer on Basement’s ground level, the Theatre space is our main space, seating up to 90 people.

Whether you are seeing a show, supporting a friend, hanging out with mates or looking for a new community to be a part of, our bar has you covered. 100% of the profits generated in the bar go towards putting on urgent live performances. With a rotating selection of local craft beer, a catchy wine list and a library of spirits and non alcoholic treats, our bar prides itself on having something for everyone from a unique one off beer run to a reliable glass of sauv.
Basement's bar is open 5:30pm - late; Tuesday through Saturday.
