SUPPORT THE DEVELOPMENT OF COMEDY IN AOTEAROA

We’re looking for three new trustees to join the New Zealand Comedy Trust and champion the growth of local comedy in Aotearoa New Zealand.

THE TRUST

The New Zealand Comedy Trust is a not-for-profit charitable organisation committed to the development of comedy as a performing art in Aotearoa New Zealand.

Since 1995, the Trust has passionately showcased the most exciting comedians from here and throughout the world at the annual NZ International Comedy Festival.

Alongside the Festival, the Trust works to develop platforms for comedy that are accessible, inclusive and safe, creates pathways for career development and advocates for comedy as a recognised and valued artform.

THE ROLE

The board of the New Zealand Comedy Trust is focused on the development of a dynamic, resilient, inclusive and successful comedy industry in Aotearoa New Zealand.

To support this ambition there is an opportunity for three new trustees to join the board, with specific expertise in the areas identified below.

As a member of the board you will support the development of the organisation through sound governance practice and future-focused strategic thinking. You will bring your experience, connections and influence, along with your visionary passion for the healthy future of laughter in (and beyond) Aotearoa as the artform and its many platforms change and grow.

Board meetings are held bi-monthly and trustees are paid an honorarium to acknowledge their time.

Appointments will commence in April 2022 and are for a fixed three-year term, with the opportunity to reappoint for a second term.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

Along with experience in collective decision making and a strong interest in the creative sector, we’re looking for people with knowledge in the following areas:

■ Strategic planning and development

■ Te ao, te reo and tikanga Māori

We encourage applicants, including tangata whenua, who will continue shaping the board into one that represents the many perspectives and experiences within Aotearoa.
